About Us
Technology you can trust. From someone who knows your town.
Beech Tree Technology Advisors was founded on a simple belief: small businesses deserve the same quality of IT support as large enterprises — delivered with the personal attention that only a local partner can provide.
Our story
Deep roots in Connecticut's shoreline
We started Beech Tree Technology Advisors because we saw a gap. Small businesses along Connecticut's shoreline and lower Connecticut River Valley were being underserved — either paying too much for impersonal IT firms, or going without support entirely and hoping nothing would go wrong.
We built this practice around the idea that technology support should feel like a relationship, not a transaction. We take the time to understand your business, your team, and your goals — so that when something needs attention, we already know the context and can respond quickly.
The beech tree is a fitting symbol for what we do. Beech trees are known for their deep root systems, their longevity, and the way they support the ecosystem around them. That's exactly how we think about technology: not as a quick fix, but as a foundation that grows stronger over time.
Hi, I'm Sterling Unan, the founder of Beech Tree Technology Advisors.
After decades of experience helping organizations in finance, manufacturing, sales and healthcare use technology more effectively, I started Beech Tree to provide relationship-driven IT guidance to small businesses throughout Connecticut's shoreline and lower Connecticut River Valley.
I believe technology support should be practical, responsive, and personal. Whether you need help managing Microsoft 365, improving cybersecurity, or planning your next technology investment, my goal is simple: help you make informed decisions with confidence.

What we stand for
The values behind every service call
Honesty above all
We tell you what you actually need — not what generates the most revenue. If a simpler solution works, we'll recommend it.
Relationships over transactions
We're not a help desk. We're a partner. We invest in understanding your business so we can serve it better over time.
Responsive and reachable
When something goes wrong, you shouldn't have to wait in a queue. You get direct access to someone who knows your setup.
Plain-English communication
Technology is complicated enough. We translate it into clear, practical guidance — no jargon, no condescension.
How we work
Our approach to IT support
We start with a conversation
Every engagement begins with a free consultation — no pressure, no sales pitch. We want to understand your business, your current technology, and where the pain points are.
We assess what you have
We take a careful look at your current setup — devices, software, security posture, and Microsoft 365 configuration — and give you an honest picture of where things stand.
We build a plan together
Based on what we find, we recommend a practical path forward — prioritized by impact and budget. No unnecessary upgrades, no vendor lock-in.
We stay by your side
Whether you need ongoing managed IT support or occasional consulting, we're here for the long haul — a consistent, trusted partner as your business grows.
Where we work
